Governers Race 2010
The Governer of MN has a profound impact on the future of education in MN. MN is the only state in the nation that does not have either an independent Board of Education (it was essentially abolished a decade ago) or an elected commissioner of Education. In MN the commissioner is appointed by the Governer. This makes education policy much more politicized in our state and gives a governer significant power to influence education policy and funding.
Parents United has been meeting with Gubanatorial Candidates, asking them what public education in MN will look like after their first term and inviting them to prepare info for the Parents United website. Parents United will not be endorsing any candidate, just providing easy access to information for those who want to become informed of the various candidates’ plans for public education in MN.
